Grey Bees (Andrey Kurkov)

there's a bit of 'being there' with peter sellers in this book not about the original ukranian conflict/occupation of crimea, but also very much about how it affects an ordinary village beekeeper. he's swept along on a quest to save his bees after everyone except one other old man leaves their village in no-mans land. funny, aching, and quite unpredictable story beats.
